Summary:
This position is responsible for providing clerical support to the court and maintaining records in the strictest confidentiality of personal information.
This position works in conjunction with other administrative staff and magistrates by utilizing skills such as customer service, record keeping, data entry, and more.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Enter data into the court's database and prepare forms for court proceedings.
Contact victims or any other pertinent individuals for bond hearings.
Update court files and record case dispositions.
Prepare routine correspondence and forms.
Assist the public with locating and obtaining information and filing paperwork.
Establish and maintain court files; pull case files for court proceedings.
Assist judges as requested.
Assist bondsmen with bonds and releases; maintains copies of all releases and surety certifications.
Collect court fines and fees.
Answer the telephone and provide information regarding court operations.
Process incoming mail.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Knowledge of court policies and procedures.
Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting Summary Court operations.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Skilled in performing basic mathematical calculations.
Skilled in operating such office equipment as a computer, calculator, copier, and facsimile machine.
Skilled in troubleshooting and correcting computer problems.
Skilled in public and interpersonal relations.
Skilled in oral and written communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping.
The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
